FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip
We will hold our annual Spring Fishing Get Together on April 16th at Lake Jordan. Join the FAAN for a day crappie fishing. Volunteer boaters will assit non-boaters with a ride and opportunity to catch some slab sides , all while enjoying the company of fellow FAAN members. Robert Harber (Hemi) will act as this year's event coordinator. Please, let him know if you are interested in participating.

Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip
Really looking forward to this trip, Have to find some places to fish crappie when its not 30 deg, Only know the 64 bridge. Maybe head up there tomorrow and scout out some places. I guess the creek mouths would be a good place to start looking. Are we keeping all legal crappie for a fish fry on the FAAN Family day or what? Think Eric and i might try some of the beaver dams also tomorrow.
Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip
i really look forward to the trip on the 16th at jordan! I also think that keeping some of the crappie for a fish fry at the family day event is a good idea! I was talking with tom yesterday and told him that i dont remember ever eating any crappie so i hope that the family day will be the first time! So far we have 3 boats and 1 non boater! I am going to start a running list on here today when i get home from work!

Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip
Hey Rob- I can take 3. It will just be a little more crowded on the front, but it will work out fine.
Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip

Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip

Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip
Looks like the weather may be a bit in doubt for Saturday, but I'm game. Hoping that tonight's weather will push the lake level up a bit. The water temp looks great . They should be in a full blown spawn mode by now.

So we should probable find them up in the creeks shallow , maybe close to the banks?
Bobbers best choice of rigs?
Still a novice at this crappie stuff.
So have we decided where we are going to meet and leave vehicles that are not dragging trailers?

I was thinking we should all meet at the Waffle house in spring lake or in a parking lot! I was also thinking that everyone that is riding should meet up with the captain at their house to park there cars or we could all meet up in a parking lot that the vehicles could stay at. Please let me know if you think of a good way for everyone to meet up that would be better for everyone.

Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip
Dont know a thing about crappie fishing nor do I have the gear. Well I own some fishing poles and assorted tackle but thats about it. How much room is left for people to come along? I do not have a boat. Sounds like a good time though. - Joe

i think we could make some room for you. As for the gear you need to use some ultralight tackle. Do you know if you have anything around the ultralight range? and send me you contact information so i can place you in a boat and send the information to the captain.
Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip

I think meeting in a parking lot in spring lake is a good idea. I have no room in my culdesac to park cars. Waffle house would be great without the boat but to tight with them. There is that parking lot out past Spring Lake with the Mc Donald's across from the new housing ares that would work pretty good. Just a thought.

Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip
eddie that sounds like a good idea! I think that if you want to get something to eat at McDonalds just show up early! I would say that we should meet in that parking lot around 530am to 600am. IS there anyone that doesnt know were the parking lot is located by the Mcdonalds off of HWY 24 on the outside of spring lake?

Here is my cell in case you need to get up with me, or have any questions of me. (910) 261-4363 Looking forward to fishing with everyone.
Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip
I'm OK with meeting either place but we met at the Waffle House last time and parked in the old Wal Mart parking lot next door. What time are we meeting again?
Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip
The only ultra light gear I have are my long crappie rods. But if they're in the shallows, I'm thinking of acquiring one or two shorter ultra light UglySticks so it'll be easier to cast.
Any idea on when a decision will be made regarding the weather. Right now it's looking rather nasty, but I'm hoping it will push on through beforehand.

Re: FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip
After looking at the weather for Saturday, I have to ask if everyone's sure they want to do this or try to schedule another trip? Chance of Thunderstorms is 90% and wind of 22 mph. Personally, I wouldn't be looking forward to becoming a crew member of the SS Minnow. Pretty brisk weather for crappie fishing.
