FAAN Spring Crappie Fishing Trip

First topic message reminder :

We will hold our annual Spring Fishing Get Together on April 16th at Lake Jordan. Join the FAAN for a day crappie fishing. Volunteer boaters will assit non-boaters with a ride and opportunity to catch some slab sides , all while enjoying the company of fellow FAAN members. Robert Harber (Hemi) will act as this year's event coordinator. Please, let him know if you are interested in participating.

Just as a suggestion everyone needs to remember their bug repellent. I was out in the boat today in my yard and the gnats are bad. And there is some kind of black striped gnat that bit the stuff-en out me. watch out for that one they smart.

I always make sure to bring my ThermaCell unit with me! i love that thing! it has protected me all night long when i go catfishing and i hope it works for me on Saturday. i need to stop by gander to get a refill kit. I look forward to fishing with everyone on Saturday! see everyone at 530am!

Had to fix a flat on the boat today, then went and got gas in it. Loaded my Crappie gear in the boat and rods in the vehicle . Really looking forward to this trip.

I'm going to hit up the store after work tomorrow to pick up a few things for the trip. Do I need to get anything for fishing the shallows for the crappie? I know for sure I want to pick up a shorter ultra light rod, but I'm not sure what sort of terminal tackle to use.

Just a couple of questions about tommarrow.

1. What time are we looking at returning?
2. Should I pack a cooler with water/sodas, sandwiches etc.
3. Since I have never fished for crappie, how many rods should i bring for myself and my son, or are we going with one per. (I have probably way to many rods than I should.)

Area I need to work in is a swamp. Can I get added back to the list? I would appreciate. Hopefully by the time the trip is over the land will be dry.

Mac i would say to bring a cooler with food and drink! call Eddie he maybe bringing a cooler that you guys can share. I dont know what time we are going to be getting off the water, that is going to be up to the captain and his crew. If you have anymore questions i am going to pm you me #!

I have all of my gear load up and i am looking forward to this event! Just a quick reminder we are going to be meeting up in the McDonald's parking lot right outside of spring lake on HWY 24/87 at 530am. We are going to be targeting Crappie so make sure you bring Ultralight gear. See you guys tomorrow morning!

Hey Mac
I think last year they got off the water about 1400.
I have a cooler on the boat and I will have ice in it so bring what you and your son need I have plenty of room.
I also have plenty of rods but if you want you could bring one each , ultra light or light.
