Fished Cape Fear Today

Hit the river today about 1100. Picked up crickets at Riverside bait and tackle and paddled upstream. The river was down enough that the first half of the dock was uncovered, and you could see the bottom ramp just under water by an inch or so. The current was moving pretty good, but not to much to paddle up stream. I didn't go far just up and into Cross Creek. I was basically on a meat run to put gills in my Aquaponics System.
The water temp was right at 70 f and murky. I fished crickets under bobber about 4 ft deep. I caught fish after fish and got plenty for the system. all in all I caught about 35 gills a mix of bluegill and shellcrackers I think. I also caught a LM Bass that was about 10 in and a spotted Bass about 8 inches.
I did not have my camera with me so no pix. I left the water about 1430 with 13 fish for the tank. So a good day .

Nice days work on some gills Eddie. Should have tried some topwater poppers on the flyrod, gills love them.
