Apps for the Angler
There's a growing number of phone and computer apps intended for anglers but I find that many pretty much have the same features. The good thing is that as more become available alot of these apps are now free. Below is a few that I have found to be very useful. I would be interested in knowing your thoughts on these apps and hearing about some of your favorite apps.
- The Weather Channel
- Buoy Data
- Moonphase
- Fishhead
- Jimmy Houston's Fish Notes
Re: Apps for the Angler

Re: Apps for the Angler
Recon fish is handy. I like knot wars by north American fishing club. Fishing spots would be awesome if it had a public/Private pond setting. Bait shops uses your gps in your phone to find the closest bait shop to you. Boat rampa shows local boat ramps but misses a few places. Bill Dances app has videos, fishlopedia (fish ID stuff), and takes you to wildlife regs. Pocket ranger shows the state parks and tells which ones have fishing and where at the parks. Will update as I find new ones. Have two whole folders full on the phone. Have not used them all yet though.

Re: Apps for the Angler
I would highly recommend the Fish Head app. I have found it very handy for quickly finding lake levels and flow rates for the river.

Re: Apps for the Angler
Nice Apps I will have to try Fish Head looks interesting, here are the ones i use regularly :
Marine Weather by Blue Fin
Navionics Lakes US East
This is great for the kayaker and they are my favorite Kayaking accessories store.
Kayak Launch Points
EarthNC Marine Charts
All of these are great for the Yak if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a GPS Charting fish finder.
Time to Fish
this one has a graph of the best time solar/ lunar and weather.

Re: Apps for the Angler
When I had an iPhone, I used Fishing Knots quick regularly (I am quite possibly the world's worst at remembering how to tie knots). But since I've switched to the Droid, I haven't gotten any fishing related apps; except for maybe the Weather Channel app. Although I have been pondering getting one for tide info, buoy info, that sort of thing so that I can be ready if/when I decide to venture out to the salt water.
