I headed out to Lowry's Fish Farms in Rowland, NC yesterday
with 3 things in mind. One try a new fishing spot, two try my new Kayak out and
to find some crappie! I met with Mr. Lowry at 10am and he told me all about
the fishing grounds. He owns 5 lakes/ponds that you can fish. I paid 10 dollars
to fish the day and you can purchase a year fishing pass for 100 dollars. I
started the day out fishing in pond #3. All of the ponds have open banks with
no overhead structure! I really wanted to try my new kayak out! I bought a 2013
Jackson Cuda '14 in the Black Widow color scheme. But the wind really kicked my
butt! No matter what I tried or how I tried to anchor my kayak the wind was so
strong it kept pulling my shallow water anchor right out! So I decided to bank
fish. The magic color combo of the day was an orange jig head with a yellow
curly tail. I fish pond #3 and pond #1 from the bank. I caught 10 bluegill and
2 crappie. I was really hoping the wind would die down but there was a storm
coming end. I had a blast out at the fish farm and look forward to my next trip
