Kayak Wars offical Post
This is going to be our official place to post our kayak wars team success! Here we can post pics and how our team is doing. Luni started us out with some nice fish on the opening day of the WARS! Also Tim caught some nice reds to add more points for us. I am going to have a running score for our team.

Re: Kayak Wars offical Post
Thanks for starting this Rob. Just took a look a Luni's fish he posted , way to get to get us started. That is a interesting gill with the stripes.I had hope to get out there yesterday after the clinic but Came down with something Friday afternoon( while getting my kayak rigged and loaded) went to the urgent care yesterday am and got some antibiotic and crap. Hope to get out this week and add some more points to our board.
I also took a look at Tim's fish from last year HOLY CRAP!!!!! dude you are the Red Fish Whisperer. Boys I do believe we need to head down that way and fish with the master some this year.I want to get on some of those gar and Bows also.
Hope y'all have a good day out on Upchurch today. It is really foggy right now reminds me of those pics of the Hardcore Kayak guys. Good luck and can't wait to see the fish.

Re: Kayak Wars offical Post
There's a ton of bluegill in that pond. Had the fish figured out yesterday. Toss near the weed line and the bluegill would pick at it, toss it a little farther out and the crappie would hit it, and that bass I picked up in the weed line with the jig suspended maybe a foot off the bottom. Also got pretty good at telling the difference between a crappie bite and a bluegill bite. The bluegills were carries but when the crappie hit the bobber just went under. Missed a LOT of hook ups though. You guys do anything besides reel down and a light hook set when fishing with a bobber? More often than not bobber were go under and get carried off, I'd reel down, set the hook and the bobber would float back up. Tried everything from no hook set to a monster hook set and couldn't get anything to work consistently.

Re: Kayak Wars offical Post
What pond are you talking about Luni, is it public or a private pond? Looks like it is a pretty productive spot. Don't want to horde in on a private honey hole , but would like to put some points on the board .
As far as the bobber hook set , on crappie and bream I usually just let the bait sit and let them take it and run. I probably miss fish and loose some baits but my hook-ups seem to be better , don't miss on the hook set as much.

Re: Kayak Wars offical Post
It's private. Had better luck on hook sets today. Combination of things probably contributed. 1/32oz jig heads instead of 1/64oz and every bite came while I was completely turned around talking to Steve. Looked back and couldn't find my bobber. Fish had plenty of time to take the bait and I reeled down and they were on. Good thing I didn't miss them those fish were the only bites I got all day. Both measured in at 11 1/2 inches. I've caught 3 fish a hair short of counting for points. All good sized eating crappie so they won't get a chance to grow up.

Re: Kayak Wars offical Post
If anyone can get a hold of Tim he's got some attention on the national kayak angling websites maxing reds in the first 5 days. It wouldn't be a big deal except the people that care about that kind of thing are also covered in a foot of snow and have nothing better to do than comb through his pictures and look for discrepancies. Well they found one.

That post points out a pretty obvious double posted fish. An easy mistake when you catch double digit reds in one day. They were banging on war drums and threatening to go to Kayak Wars admins and generally overreacting. I think I calmed them down a bit just need to fix it.

Ordered up the big sticker pack. Gonna put one on the kayak, one on a nalgene, and possibly some other stuff. I'll definitely have extras. Will trade stickers for bait. Or ya know, you can just have one, cause I like you guys.

Re: Kayak Wars offical Post
I think I will head over to the Lock and Dam 3 and see if there are any cats below the dam. Might take the fly rod to and see if any shad have made it up this far yet, or maybe even a rock . Who knows , got to be something there right? LOL
I'll post how it goes.

Re: Kayak Wars offical Post
The park at the lock and dam was close the water is way too high I guess, Stopped at the wildlife ramp off Old Willmington rd. there was a couple of guys fishing hadn't caught anything. River was really moving. Next stopped by Riverside talk with them awhile , the river was up past the boat ramp just about even with the road from the lower parking lot , they told me that the Swamp Boyz had a tourney this weekend and pull a lot of good sized ones so they are biting , just need the water to drop a couple of feet and should be good to hit with the Yak.
I will head to post tomorrow thinking maybe Wyatt lake for cats really want to try out the bait I have made up.

Re: Kayak Wars offical Post
Fished Wyatt lake from about 1130 1500 or so, not a bite so much for believing the table telling the major bite times for fish. I had planned on heading over to Keist Lake for a while but as I was loading the truck to leave I took a spill, slipped down the bank on the pine needles and went down hard really tweeked the crap out of my back so just ed my came home and started my self medication early.
Re: Kayak Wars offical Post

Luni-
You will not be able to load up the photos from last weekend. The software that kayakwars uses knows that date of the photos and will not let you add them to march because they photo was taken in feb, only because we maxed out Reds last month.
