Monofilament Recycling Empty Monofilament Recycling

You may not be aware that monofilament fishing can not be processed by our local recycling center. So, it should should not be discarded in the blue recycling containers. However, line recovered and place in regular trash receptacles is considered to be removed from the environment, but it should be cut 6 -12 inches lengths to reduce the chances of animals being entangled.

If you wish to have your used line recycled you may mail it to Pure Fishing American. http://www.purefishing.com/

i saw somewhere there was a "gadget" that you can clip to your vest that rolls your old tippit and leader material onto a spool .. once filled up upi can dispose of it in an appropriate manner..

Can anyone tell me where i can get hold of one .. i am forever sticking old tippits in my pockets.. which end up as a rats nest after a session.. ..

Thanks
Steve.

There's this item from Bass Pro Shop http://www.basspro.com/Fishpond-Piopod-MicroTrash-Container/product/10207371/-1552534.

I have started the ball rolling on starting a mono collection point. I should have some more details next week and will be able to provide some details then. I hope.

Thanks Tom...

This is a great plan .. i was at lake rim the other day and saw people getting tangled up on line lying round... what i did not see was litter bins..

Its a journey we as responsible anglers must take... we sometimes just need someone to take the first step...

Thanks Tom...

When I was in Florida they have PVC tubes at every boat ramp to put you used line in . I would be nice to see NC do something on those lines.
