On July 4 from 12:01 a.m. until 11:59 p.m., everyone in North Carolina — resident and non-residents alike — can fish in any public body of water, including coastal waters, without purchasing a fishing license or additional trout fishing privilege. Although no fishing license is required, all other fishing regulations, such as size and creel limits and lure restrictions, still apply. The Commission provides access to fishing sites across the state, including public fishing areas and boating access areas. Check out our interactive fishing and boating maps listing more than 500 fishing and boating areas that are open to the public.

I have been thinking about shad patterns lately and stated looking real close at the colorization of different shad species. Then in looking at some Hickory shad pics I was a bit surprised at just how the distinctive the purples and blues are on these fish and thought that this will make a great color pattern for crankbait. Painting some baits for practice

I received some unpainted crankbait bodies a couple of weeks ago and we have been in the process of building lure dryers and preparing everything to get ready to paint. So, with a few hours of cool tempetures in the mornings, I decided to pratice on a few lures.
