Gonna Hit Up Lake Upchurch in the Morning...
Some friends and I are going to do some bass fishing on Lake Upchurch tomorrow morning. The plan is to be putting the boats in as the sun starts to rise, at around 6:30 am. If any of you are going to be out on Lake Upchurch tomorrow, give me a holler. I'll be the guy in the red Strike King jersey.
Re: Gonna Hit Up Lake Upchurch in the Morning...
We didn't make it out. They all decided not to go this morning. I found out this morning when I was calling them to see if they were ready to go. I ended up going to a pond out in Parkton to do some bank fishing. I had a bite on a Culprit worm but failed to put the bass in my hand. Not much else happened after that. Maybe I can try for Upchurch next weekend.

It's a small pond on Murph's Rd. off of McIver Rd. (Church St.). Went back today and caught one but missed two others. All, the catch and misses, were on a hollow bodied frog.

i live off of McIver rd but have never seen Murph's road. Is the pond private?BenB wrote:It's a small pond on Murph's Rd. off of McIver Rd. (Church St.). Went back today and caught one but missed two others. All, the catch and misses, were on a hollow bodied frog.

Yes it is a private pond but a NCWRC wildlife habitat (according to the sign). The owner used to have permission slips to fill out for access. However, there hasn't been any in a while. I got one last year when a friend took me there for the first time.
It seems the idiots, there's always atleast one, are starting to tear stuff up. Today, it looked like someone backed a car into the nice wood fence, or something since yesterday. Atleast I didn't notice it yesterday. There's always trash scattered everywhere and I try to pick up as much of it as I can.
Occasionally, I take my little boat out there with a trolling motor. It wouldn't be a bad place for Kayaks either. All that I have ever seen in there are bass and bream. It's not very deep, about 6-9 feet. It's about 3 feet below full, yet it's about 3 feet higher than it was this past summer. I'm sure there are some nice bass in there but, I haven't caught the monster yet. I have caught a couple of 3 pounders and quite a few 2 pounders, as well as, more short fish than I can count.

Re: Gonna Hit Up Lake Upchurch in the Morning...
Hey guys I would like to get in on this too. Like to hit the small ponds with the yak.
Re: Gonna Hit Up Lake Upchurch in the Morning...
I don't know if I should be taking you guys there or not. If y'all out-fish me then my confidence will be crushed and I would prolly give up fishing all together.
HAHA! Just kidding! I'll let you guys know when I plan on going there again. Which will be soon. Gonna try for Upchurch on Saturday. May head to Parkton Sunday morning. Again, I'll let y'all know.

I went and checked out Murphs pond and it looks like a good place to catch bream and bass! I leave on saturday and should be back in town in less than 2 weeks. I hope to fish the lake when i get back in town.

Let me know when you get back and we'll hit the water wide open.
