Flies for Panfish

Flies for Panfish
An often overlooked but truly enjoyable type of fish to catch with their abundance and ferocity. Even Bill Dance did a show on Blue Gills and Redears this weekend. So, what's your top 3 panfish flies? Nothing better to me then getting some nice fat panfish on a light weight fly rod.
My personal top 3:
1. The stealth bomber
2. Foam Spider
3. San Juan Worm

Re: Flies for Panfish
I love the Stealth Bomber, myself and I can't get over the action that this fly creates. For as much fun as it produces on topwater, I still can't ignore the fact that most of the bite will occurr subsurface on aquatic organisms. We always find Dragonfly nymphes, Damselfly Nymphes, and leeches in abundance in our bug classes. So, I think that an Olive Wooly Bugger is an accurate represntation of a dragon fly and black could easily be mistaken for a leeech. I also like Zug bugs, Hare's ear nymphes, and Prince nymphes.

That is why I will sometimes utilize a hopper and dropper or a popper and dropper. But I'll admit that I'd rather catch 1 on top then 6 under. lol. Just my preferred way of fishing.

Going to have to go with the answer I gave to the pond lures.
Stealth Bomber
Bead Head Wooley Bugger
Foam Beetle
Foam Frog yeah I know you said three but damn I love to see them hit a frog.

I like assorted flies and its hard to pin down just 3. For base line topwater I like a small foam spider.
I also like to get down deep where the big boys like to be...
Frog's are some nice attention getters and draw a lot of bass also.
