No Good Deed Goes Unpunnished Empty No Good Deed Goes Unpunnished

Post  BenB Thu Jan 17, 2013 9:26 pm

This past Sunday, a friend and I took my creek boat out on Lake Upchurch. The weather was nice, the water cold, and the fish were leaping out of the water. We decided, as we trolled up stream, to go on up into Rockfish Creek and hunt down some good-sized bass. On our way up the creek we noticed a canoe caught up in a fallen tree on the creek bank. As we examined the canoe we see that it belongs to Camp Rockfish. We go on up the creek with plans of towing the canoe back to the camp on our way back out, which we did. It seems that after a good deed, such as this, we would catch atleast one fish. Well we didn't. In fact, the wind picked up, making it tough to stay in one spot even with two 15lb. anchors. I ended up losing two deep-diving crankbaits and my friend lost one that he just got the day before. The trolling motor battery died, the live well started leaking into the boat, and we didn't even get a bite much-less catch anything. Needless to say, it wasn't a good day of fishing. Will this deter me from doing a good deed while fishing? Probably not. Some people never learn. LOL

At least you have the benefit of knowing you did the right thing Ben. And that is as important as most other things in this day and age.
