30 Aug 12 fishing report

Went to Wrightsville Beach started fishig around 530 to 6pm along the beach from Masonboro inlet to 1 mile past Johnny Merciers pier. up to 1mile offshore. Caught a few spanish on clark spoons trolling 5knots with birds and one planer rig. Be aware of the hound fish attacking spoons and a pain in the but to retrieve. The blues bit really well in the 1lb to 1 3/4 size. Wave were 3 to 4 at times. Little bird activity.

Tried a little bottom fishing at the Masonboro jetty. Lots of small croakers and an occasional blue from 8pm to 10pm.

The fish are there but the weather is not user friendly. lol

I heard the spanish were here; suprised you didn't load up on them. This weather of late must have them scattered about. Seas at 3-4 feet must have been a real hoot! Thanks for the report, John.
