Neuse River Reds
Scott Hobbs and I made our third annual Red Drum Run to the Neuse last week. Wednesday evening we launched the boat, netted some bait, and were on our favorite spot at sunset. Thirty minutes later Scott boated the first fish.

Then I hooked up and landed one; it was "game on"!

We boated three more, and had #30 braid and #80 mono broken!
Thursday and Friday we started late afternoon with the same results!

We put over a dozen in the boat ranging from 35 to 46 inches. Some friends showed up in their boats each night to fish with us, Trigger, Sundrop, and Rye, and they all caught caught fish too!
We even had time for crabbing at our dock for shore lunch!

Many of the locals say the best Red fishing hasn't started yet! It's going to be a good year!

Re: Neuse River Reds
Nice! I tried for some Reds in the Roanoke Sound with no luck. Really was hoping to hook up to a nice one on the new kayak. Thanks for the write up!

We fish past midnight, Al. By the time we get back to the house and to bed a freight train won't wake you. So come on the next trip!
