Where should I fish at Snead's Ferry?
I am looking for advice on where to fish at Snead's Ferry. I will be fishing from the shore/surf.
Thanks,
Eric

I can't tell you where to fish in Snead's Ferry, but I would suggest going by East Coast Sports in Topsail and talk to Capt. Chris Medlin. It's about 20 miles away, if you have time. Tell him your from the FAAN. He's been providing us with some fishing reports on our Facebook page. I'll bet that he can help you out a lot.
Snead's Ferry
Try the 172 bridge. Cross over to the Camp Lejuene side and take the road on the right before you get to the guard gate. It will bring you back down beside the bridge to a parking and fishing area (no military ID required).
The channel is thirty feet deep and good water flow. Lots of trout caught there in summer and fall.
The south side has an old pier for fishing, but may require permission from someone.

BParker hit the nail on the head. I use to fish there all the time. To add to it There are some very large unturnable black drum under that bridge. You can catch them on fresh clams. Also some good sheepshead fishing on the pilings. Excellent shrimping there also. Even the pinfish and pigfish are large there.

Hwy 172 bridge is a gold mine for trout in the Fall! Good luck out there and post up some pics for us!

This time of year put on your wading shoes. When you park there you will see a couple of paths that take you down to the water by the bridge. Go down and wade, you will have lots of room to move about. You should also see, on this side of the bridge, the old road bed that went across before the new high rise bridge. Lots of rubble on the bottom, but it makes for good fish habitat.
Try jigs/grubs, Mirrollures and topwater plugs. Lots of flounder, speckled trout, red and black drum are caught in this area. When the waters cool some spots and croakers show up in big numbers around the deep waters near the bridge also.
