Catch and keep Trout

Catch and keep Trout
I copied this out of my Email from Al K. If you know any wounded warriors , retired or active military , or their families , disabled sportsmen this is a good time to have some fun and take home some trout.
The trout, which are a cold water species, have completed their fly fishing clinic mission. They are now available for harvest at events coordinated with church groups, assisted living homes, and veterans groups. We have scheduled an extra Wounded Warriors / Military Appreciation Day for the afternoon of March 27th for some "fish and keep". Any legal method of fishing, ie fly, spinner or bait fishing will be allowed. Per NC regulation, there is a limit of 7 fish per participant. You're on you own for cleaning them, however we do have a cleaning table and several knives available. Suggest you bring a cooler and some Ziploc bags for your catch. Fish fry anyone?
We will not do any fly tying on March 27 - this will be a fishing only event. The warm water ponds are available for catch and release fishing so bring a few uncooked hotdogs if you want to catch some huge catfish or try your fly fishing skills on the bass and sunfish.
The Pechmann Center provides all equipment for these events, however participants are encouraged to bring and use their own gear. If you're not into fly fishing we have spin cast outfits and bait for use on the catfish ponds. If you really want to catch a bunch of huge catfish you should bring a few hotdogs to cut up for bait - works very well. A NC fishing license is not required for these events. For your safety we require a hat and glasses (any type of eye glasses to include sunglasses are permissible)
Because these events require scheduling of facilities and personnel, it is imperative that we have a good showing. In order to keep attendance to the level necessary to continue, any military, retired military, VA card holders or NC Handicapped Sportsmen and their family members who show up between the hours of 1-5pm are welcome - it makes for some good family time.
The NCWRC John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is located at 7489 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28304. It was an old fish hatchery which has since been converted to an education center. It is right across from Lake Rim on what is now known as old Raeford Rd on the west side of Fayetteville. Here is a Map Quest link http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Fayetteville&state=NC&address=7489+Raeford+Rd&zipcode=28304
In addition to our special March 27th "fish and keep" event we will stay on schedule with our regular 2nd Wednesday of the month Wounded Warrior / Military Appreciation Day from 1:00-5:00 pm on April 10, 2013. If the weather remains cool and the water temperatures stay below 65-70 degrees we may have some trout left for harvest. We always have a variety of other fish just waiting to put a bend in your rod and a smile on your face. As long as attendance stays up we will continue these events.
Please pass this email on to others in your unit or chain of command. We even have a poster (attached) which you can print out to help get out the word about this great opportunity for a little change of pace.
