Speckled Trout in Southport
Waht a beautiful day to be on the water. Chris Hall, Chris Jordan and myself headed out early this morning to arrive at the Southport Marina Ramp and begin fishing Dutchman Creek on the high tide. Last night's night's full moon gave way to a bright clear morning that was nearly free of wind, giving us a calm smooth surface to fish upon. Each of us started off fishing different, but it quickly clear that the bait of the day was going to be a white 3 inch Gulp Pogy attached to a 1/8 oz jighead, as Chris Jordan landed a trout within minutes of beginning to fish. We caught a representation of all the of the major inshore species, but they all fell short of the minimum lengths. However, we enjoyed the time and shared a lot of laughs.
