Hello from Hope Mills
I just recently retired from the Army and have not been fishing since I was in. Used to fish quite often when younger, but I am getting back into it. I received a sweet rod and reel for a retirement gift from a friend. I want to get out and fish, but don't know where exactly. I have been here for 12 years and never really paid attention to the fishing spots. I want to fish local, without having to make trips to Raleigh etc... Hoping that some of you seasoned guys can hook me up with information. Not really looking for certain fishing and am open to anything getting on the end of my line. Thanks in advance. ~ Todd

Re: Hello from Hope Mills
Welcome Todd, Glad to have you on board. There are several places in the area to fish without having to travel too far. You should start by getting a Ft Bragg fishing permit, the Lakes on Bragg are your best bet around this area. Also Lake Upchurch produces good Bass. And there is also the river. Lots of fishing opportunities. You should also watch this forum as the members offer a spot in there boat to anyone that wants to go fishing. May 5th is our next meet at the Pechmann Fishing Education Center off Raeford Rd, across from Rim Lake at 1830. You should come to that and meet everyone. We are always glad to share fishing knowledge and trips.
