3D Manic Shrimp
While walking a tackle show, this weekend, I came across the folks at Savage Gear demonstrating their lures in a test tank. Not many lures really grab my attention any more, but this one was a show stopper. These lures are designed by using 3-D scanning technology to exactly replicate the body form of shrimp. Then, the company uses thermoplastic elastomer rather than plastisol that is commonly used in other plastic lure. This material is definitely more flexible and adds an life like action to the lures. In addition, it is reportedly stronger than lures built using the traditional plastisol methods. Good thing as a single pre-rigged bait is going to cost you in the neighborhood of $6. However, if they look as good to fish as they do me, it will be well worth the investment.
Additionally, they were demonstating the Real Eel and I must say had there also been a live eel in the tank, I don't know that you would have been able to tell the difference.

Re: 3D Manic Shrimp
If the videos and links from Scott Hobbs mean anything, EZ Bait and Tackle are now carrying Savage Gear items. Might be time for a field trip to Goldsboro.

Eddie it sounds like a plan to make a stop at the shop when we go in march! I really want to buy some of theses shrimp! mostly in the 2.5 inch size and maybe one or two packs in the bigger size! I really want to try these baits out! I bet the Reds, Specks and stripers would love them!
Re: 3D Manic Shrimp
Cool site looks like a bunch of Ca-nooks with all the big northern fish. Looking forward to March also.

Well, another reason to hate snow. Won't make the 15th due to a make-up date for school.

Re: 3D Manic Shrimp
I am finding two different types of this lure one( 3D manic) has almost a photographic detail and the other(loose Body) is more like the look of like gulp in color and detail. both are by Savage . The one in the video is called a loose body and the other is just called a TPE 3d Manic shrimp. The 3D manic Shrimp looks great it is also shown rigged from the front instead of the tail like in the video. The tail is made with a nylon mesh to hold up to hook sets on short strikes. I think that both of these will end up in my inshore box. here is a link that shows both :
Both
And this is the manic shrimp from Tackle direct:
