Reporting aboard
Greetings to all of you. I am new to this area having retired after 30 years of service in the United States Coast Guard. I know this is an Army town, but I have land here, so... Where do people fish around here, other then Jordan and Harris? Are there any good spots in the local area? Yes, I have been on the post and found many of the "small" lakes there but what is in the area outside the base? Also, looking for fishing buddies...I have a boat. Good luck to all and get bent (on your pole...keep it clean...LOL)

Re: Reporting aboard
Welcome aboard L2fish good to have you with us. Looking forward to meeting you and fishing together some time. As for lake around here not on Post well.... there not many that are open to the public. The Cape Fear River is a good place for cats .crappie, and bass. Jordan and Harris are the main Fresh water I fish , its just an expensive trip due to gas prices.
Again good to have you aboard

Re: Reporting aboard
Welcome L2fish!
As far as places to fish in the Fayetteville area go, most of the lakes and ponds are private. Lake Rim is pretty good if you have a boat, which you do. Also, if you call ahead, you can put a boat in at Waldo's Beach. I believe they are planning to open the boat ramp and pier in April. Though if you're looking for a fishing partner and want to hit Upchurch's Pond, I have access to a couple of private ramps. Be sure and check out the John E Pechmann Fishing Education Center across from Lake Rim.
Again, welcome and I look forward to meeting you.
